This repository contains the relevant code and data for the paper Harvest and runoff drive silicon depletion in tropical crop systems (https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.21485444). Specifically, the harvest_runoff_si_depletion_code_and_data.zip file contains 13 numbered R scripts that reproduce the global upscaling of harvest and runoff silicon removal from tropical rice and rubber cultivation, covering gridded data processing, a 10,000-iteration Monte Carlo uncertainty propagation, straw-management scenarios, country-level aggregation and surface silicon pool depletion-time estimation. The data_generated folder contains 23 study-generated files, including the compiled GLORICH and GlASS records used to parameterise runoff DSi, two 5-arcmin crop-residue return-fraction rasters, the Monte Carlo iteration outputs and summaries, the deterministic 5-arcmin silicon removal rasters for rice and rubber, and the source tables for Supplementary Tables S2, S6 and S7. The data_input folder contains the literature-compiled crop silicon concentration dataset used to parameterise grain and straw silicon contents. The README.md file is also provided separately so that its contents can be read without downloading the archive. The public source datasets (MapSPAM 2020, TerraClimate, GLORICH, GlASS, the Smerald cereal-residue dataset and Natural Earth) are not redistributed here and must be obtained from their original sources, as documented in the README.
