Intelligent Automation and the Rise of the Sentient Workplace: A Catalyst to Business Transformation
Résumé fourni par la source
Abstract Purpose This chapter discusses intelligent automation (IA) as the means of creating sentient workplaces, environments that should be able to sense and react to the needs of occupants based on real-time data collected by wearable devices, sensors, and scanners. This is done in such systems to increase the comfort, productivity, and well-being in addition to creating human-conscious, adaptive, and sustainable working environments. The chapter also explores the issue of IA in fostering sustainability, resilience, and human-centered transformation in an Industry 5.0 context. Need for the Study Although the literature already emphasizes the use of IA, to ensure efficiency and cost reduction, there is little literature on the application of human-centric intelligence to sentient workspace design. This work fills that gap by examining how the adoption of IA, employee engagement, and workforce development help in creating future-ready and sustainable organizations. Methodology The research combines literature review, conceptual modeling, and the empirical analysis using a descriptive and analytical approach. Correlation and ROI evaluation were used to statistically analyze secondary data on 250 organizations (2022–2024) to estimate the impact of IA. Findings Results show that IA extends beyond routine automation to create adaptable, context-sensitive environments that promote agility, inclusiveness, and ethical resilience. Practical Implications The proposed model helps organizations to harmonize automation and human values by reskilling, developing trust, and flexibility to have sustainable competitive advantage in Industry 5.0.
