The effectiveness of environmental education as a tool for social transformation depends critically on the pedagogical methodologies used to facilitate learning processes that can generate profound changes in environmental knowledge, attitudes, values, and behavior. As evidenced in previous chapters, the environmental education ecosystem includes multiple actors, from formal educational institutions to civil society organizations, which require methodological approaches adapted to their specific contexts, diverse audiences, and particular objectives. Innovative methodological approaches in environmental education have emerged in response to the limitations of traditional methods, which often rely on one-way information transmission and may be inadequate for addressing the systemic complexity of contemporary environmental problems. These methodological innovations seek to create more participatory, contextualized, and transformative learning experiences that connect environmental knowledge with practical action and long-term commitment. Multiple pedagogical currents, including social constructivism, critical pedagogy, experiential learning, and community participation theories, have influenced the development of these approaches. In addition, the digital revolution has opened new possibilities for creating immersive, interactive, and personalized educational experiences that can amplify the impact of traditional environmental education.
