Le résumé fourni par la source

We want to investigate the Fe oxidation state and coordination geometry in two common lunar regolith phases: plagioclase [(Ca,Na,K)2(Si,Al)4O8] and impact glass. Samples are lunar feldspathic and regolith feldspatic breccia meteorites from which we will measure Fe K-edge XAS spectra. This study will help us in constraining the oxygen fugacity for the synthesis of these phases aimed at the production of a new high-fidelity lunar regolith simulant. The presence of Fe in plagioclase (the main mineral phase of lunar material) and glass (a common phase on lunar regolith) and its oxidation state can strongly influence the mechanical and physical properties of the material. Micro-XANES data collected at the proposed beamline (ID21) will be investigated in terms of edge energy and pre-edge features, and they will be compared to those of model compounds with known Fe oxidation state and coordination geometry.
