First official release of LAYZER LAYZER: Leaf Area analYZER LAYZER is a Python-based desktop application designed for calculating the surface area of green leaves from digital images. It utilizes computer vision techniques, specifically the Excess Green (ExG) index and Otsu's thresholding, to automatically distinguish green plant matter from backgrounds. Key Features:Automated Detection: Accurately isolates green regions using the ExG index.Auto-Thresholding: Implements Otsu's method for automatic binary thresholding, with options for manual adjustments.Region of Interest (ROI): Allows users to draw polygon ROIs to exclude background noise or non-target plants.Real-time Calibration: Supports dynamic scale setting (pixels to cm) using reference objects within the image.Batch Processing: Efficient navigation and processing of multiple images.Results Export: Automatically saves measurements to CSV format. ### New Features & Enhancements * **Stem Detection Mode (CIELAB b*-channel):** Added a new detection target for stems (yellowish regions) utilizing the b* channel of the CIELAB color space, alongside the traditional Leaf (ExG) detection mode.* **Threshold Presets:** Added the ability to configure and save custom default threshold values for both leaf and stem detection in Settings. These presets are automatically applied when "Auto (Otsu)" is disabled.* **Multi-Object Numbering & Individual Measurement:** The application now dynamically identifies and numbers all individual leaves/stems within the ROI, simultaneously measuring the area, length, and width (based on Minimum Area Bounding Boxes) for each object. * Increased the noise filter threshold to `50` pixels to prevent tiny reflections and noise from being falsely detected. * Enhanced the visualization of numbering badges on the preview with dynamic centering to support multi-digit numbers.* **Manual Length Measurement Tool (Measure Length):** Added a "Measure Length" tool below the "Save Results" button. After setting the scale, users can click any two points to measure the real-world distance (cm) between them, accompanied by a blue dashed line overlay.* **Extended CSV Export:** Updated the CSV output format to log every single detected object individually as a separate row: * CSV Columns: `Timestamp`, `File Path`, `Target`, `Index`, `Area (cm^2)`, `Length (cm)`, `Width (cm)` * Added format misalignment warnings when appending to older CSV files.* **Installer Enhancements:** Corrected the default installation directory to always prioritize "LAYZER" instead of caching the older folder name "LAIZER" from previous installations.
