Notes on the identification, morphology, extended distribution, and Red-list assessment of Tropidia namasiae (Orchidaceae)

Morphologically, the species Tropidia namasiae is close to T. hegderaoi, and its taxonomic status as an independent species was questionable. However, after thorough examination of the freshly collected specimens, types, protologue and other authentic literature of both species, the earlier is considered a distinct species. Moreover, the species was previously reported in India from Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh. The species is now reported for the first time from Nagaland, another biodiversity-rich state in the northeastern region of India. In addition, a global threat assessment has also been done and updated as per the IUCN guidelines. Detailed morphological description, photographs, information on habitat, phenology, and distribution, along with Red-List assessment of the species, are provided.
