Self-compassion in a behavioral weight loss program for men
Le résumé fourni par la source
Self-compassion may be related to improved weight management behaviors, helping people to navigate the physical, psychological, and social challenges of trying to lose weight. However, little research on the subject has examined outcomes in the long-term, among men, and using methodologically rigorous methods. The current study uses data from a year-long behavioral weight loss (BWL) program for men. At baseline, (trait) self-compassion was measured through self-report survey, and participant weight, physical activity, and eating behavior data were collected throughout the 12-month study period. Self-compassion is expected to predict greater weight management and adherence to program behaviors (weight loss, physical activity, diet quality, calorie tracking).
