v1.0.0 — Initial release First archived release of the Safeguarding mallee birds — habitat suitability maps. This release contains interactive species-, species-group- and community-level habitat suitability maps for the nationally threatened mallee bird community of south-eastern Australia. The maps link expert-elicited suitability scores to mapped State-and-Transition Model vegetation condition states across chenopod/tussock grass, Triodia/shrubby and mesic heathy mallee. Suitability is shown on a 1–7 scale, from areas where a species is not expected to occur to the best available habitat expected. The live interactive version is available through the project's GitHub Pages website or can be accessed here The maps are intended to support regional conservation planning, ecological restoration and habitat-condition assessment. They should be interpreted alongside field data, local ecological knowledge, mapping uncertainty and the assumptions of the expert-elicitation and STM processes.
