Virtual Avatars for Accessible Consumer Services: A Rapid Review of Design Patterns and Challenges
Résumé fourni par la source
Virtual avatars are increasingly used in consumer services, yet people with disabilities still face barriers. We conducted a rapid review of 25 sources (20 peer-reviewed studies and 5 industry implementations, 2020–2025) to synthesize accessibility guidance for avatar-based services. We consolidated five guideline categories, summarized three recurrent architectural approaches, and identified two categories of implementation challenges. Based on these findings, we propose four design patterns and highlight gaps in automated testing and standardized benchmarks.
