PSYCHOLOGICAL DISTRESS AMONG UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS IN HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS: A SCOPING REVIEW PROTOCOL
Le résumé fourni par la source
With the rise of mental health challenges among young adults worldwide, understanding the psychological well-being of university students has become a global public health priority. This project presents a scoping review protocol designed to comprehensively map the landscape of psychological distress among undergraduate students in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) globally. By synthesizing evidence from the last decade (2016–2026), this study aims to reveal not only the prevalence and tools used to assess psychological distress, but also the socio-economic, academic, and external factors that protect or put students at risk. Furthermore, it will look into student treatment trends and catalog the institutional policies implemented by universities to support student mental health. Grounded in rigorous JBI and PRISMA-ScR methodologies, this research seeks to address literature fragmentation and provide actionable insights for researchers, educators, and policymakers to foster healthier academic environments.
