The formation and collision of plasma diffuse jets (PDJs) initiated by a capacitive discharge in low pressure air was studied. The PDJ were formed by high voltage pulses of positive and negative polarity at a frequency of 21 kHz. They started from the plasma of a capacitive discharge that was created in a quartz tube. Data on the dimensions and properties of plasma diffuse jets including ones with different and identical front polarities are obtained in the 5 and 14.2 cm diameters tube. Photographs of the discharge glow and spectra in various modes are presented. It is shown that during a collision of unipolar PDGs formed from two generators the brightness of the discharge plasma between the ring electrodes increases. It is shown that when the pulse polarity is the same, the opposite PDJs in air suppress each other’s radiation from the 2+ and 1+ systems of molecular nitrogen. It is shown that, when the relative air humidity is increased, lines of atomic nitrogen Ha and continuum appear in the spectrum.
