Le résumé fourni par la source

A general method for delivering computing and storage services via the internet is cloud computing. Service providers are implementing novel approaches to boost cloud systems’ performance, availability, and consistency as client demand for services. Virtualization of servers, hardware, and operating systems plays a significant role in cloud computing by improving resource utilization, reducing energy consumption, and minimizing operational costs in cloud data centers. This research paper presents a genetic meta-heuristic method called power aware genetic algorithm (PowerGA), designed to optimize VMP (virtual machine placement) by minimizing the number of active physical machines (PMs) in data centers. PowerGA aims to reduce energy consumption and Service Level Agreement Violations (SLAV) by considering factors such as host shutdown, VM migration, overload occurrences, and the number of active PMs. Extensive simulations using real workload dataset from PlanetLab over a ten-day period demonstrated the effectiveness of PowerGA. When compared with power aware heuristic approach (PABFD), PowerGA achieved 25% saving in energy consumption (EC), and a 58% improvement in SLAV. These findings highlight how genetic algorithms, such as PowerGA, can automatically optimise virtual machine placement to improve energy efficiency and SLA performance in cloud computing environments.
