An open occurrence dataset for European subterranean spiders

We present here a database of subterranean-dwelling spider species distributed across 42 countries within the European continent, covering the period between 1881 and 2026. It comprises 31,498 records of 637 subterranean-dwelling spider species, including morphospecies under description, across 28 families (Nicolosi et al., 2026). An open occurrence dataset for European subterranean spiders. Global Ecology and Biogeography, in press.. The database includes a range of information, including taxonomy, locality details such as location name, country, geographic coordinates, and type of subterranean habitat, as well as reference information for each record.
