Multi-Target Neuroprotection by Syzygium aromaticum Ethyl Acetate Fraction Against Mercuric Chloride-Induced Hippocampal Toxicity: Insights from Network Pharmacology, Molecular Docking, and In Vivo Evaluation

This study investigated the neuroprotective potential of the ethyl acetate fraction of Syzygium aromaticum (clove) against mercuric chloride-induced hippocampal neurotoxicity using an integrated approach combining network pharmacology, molecular docking, GC-MS phytochemical profiling, and in vivo experiments. The findings demonstrate that SEAF exerts multi-target neuroprotective effects by reducing oxidative stress, suppressing neuroinflammation, modulating neurotransmission, improving cognitive function, and preserving hippocampal neuronal architecture, highlighting its promise as a candidate nutraceutical for mitigating mercury-associated dementia risk.
