Le résumé fourni par la source

This chapter examines the intricate relationship between plant secondary metabolites (PSMs) and soil microbes, illuminating how these interactions influence plant vitality. Compounds such as phenolics, terpenoids, alkaloids, and flavonoids act as chemical messengers, attracting beneficial microbes, including growth-promoting bacteria, while repelling harmful pathogens. In return, soil microbes like Bacillus , Pseudomonas , and mycorrhizal fungi influence PSM production by tweaking plant hormones, boosting nutrient uptake, and fine-tuning gene activity, leading to richer stores of these protective compounds. These exchanges strengthen plants against pests and diseases, enhance their ability to absorb nutrients, and help them withstand challenges like drought or poor soil. Using cutting-edge tools like omics, we uncover the deep-rooted connections, evolutionary patterns, and ecological roles at play. The chapter also highlights practical uses, such as developing eco-friendly biofertilizers and breeding crops with robust microbial allies. By understanding these natural partnerships, we can pave the way for healthier plants and sustainable farming in an ever-changing world.
