Personality Systems as Narrative Identity Technology: Why Typology, Archetype, Numerology, and Astrology Still Organize the Modern Self
Résumé fourni par la source
This preprint explains why personality systems such as MBTI-style typology, the Enneagram, astrology, numerology, archetypes, and branding personas remain culturally powerful even when they do not meet the standards of predictive science. It argues that these systems work as narrative identity technologies: tools people use to name themselves, organize life stories, interpret relationships, build public personas, and convert personal complexity into shareable symbolic language. The article separates scientific validity from symbolic utility so that belief, self-description, branding, and digital avatar-building can be analyzed without turning symbolic systems into unsupported science.
