Purpose: To analyze the main production and marketing strategies implemented by beekeepers in Champoton, Campeche, and to propose strategies that improve the competitiveness of beekeeping and strengthen its value chain. Methodological design: The methodology employed is quantitative, using primary data obtained through a stratified statistical sampling survey. The analysis was conducted using descriptive and correlational statistics. Results: The main advantages of the beekeeping production analyzed lie in its plant diversity, honey quality, and the presence of organizations. Among the disadvantages are limited access to capital, reduced government support, and dependence on a single sales outlet. Packaging and processing of bee products are among the main strategies for integrating into new markets, with the potential to generate higher incomes and greater well-being for producer families. Research limitations: The study is limited to seven of the 631 localities registered in the municipality of Champotón. However, five of the nine most populated localities were selected, representing slightly more than 50% of the total population, since most of these localities have fewer than 1,000 inhabitants. Findings: Vertical integration of primary production with agro-industrial processes would enable better integration into sales channels, and the dynamics of this activity would be reflected in its greater capacity to generate income for families, consequently resulting in a greater economic impact that benefits rural development.
