—Introduction: Breast cancer continues to be a significant cause of cancer-related mortality and is one of the most frequent malignancies affecting women worldwide. The early detection of breast cancer by breast self-examination (BSE) has the potential to greatly boost treatment success and levels of survival. Nevertheless, the lack of knowledge and inadequate understanding of BSE continue to be severe difficulties, particularly among people who are situated in rural regions. For this reason, it is necessary to examine the amount of knowledge that women have about BSE in order to establish educational interventions that are effective. Goal: The goal of this study was to investigate the amount of confidence that women in a specific rural location in Sasaram, Bihar, had in their capacity to undertake breast self-examination (BSE) in connection to breast cancer. The goal of the study was also to explore the link between knowledge levels and specific demographic variables, as well as to assess the efficacy of a proposed teaching program. Approach: the approach employed in this study was a quantitative research technique, and the design used was a pre-experimental one-group pre-test and post-test pattern. Using a technique known as convenient sampling, we identified women who resided in a specific rural area of Sasaram, which is situated in the state of Bangladesh. For the goal of acquiring information, a structured knowledge questionnaire regarding breast cancer and BSE was also employed. In order to measure the amount to which the students' knowledge had improved, a post-test was administered after the pre-test, which was followed by a planned teaching program. Descriptive and inferential statistics were applied for data analysis. Results: The findings indicated that the majority of women had low to average knowledge about breast cancer and BSE before the intervention. In the pre-test, only a small minority of participants exhibited good knowledge. Following the specified training program, a notable improvement was seen in post-test scores, with the majority of women reaching good knowledge levels. The proportion of participants with poor knowledge reduced considerably after the intervention. Chi-square analysis indicated that most demographic factors, including age, religion, marital status, occupation, family type, income, and area of residence, had no significant association with knowledge levels (p > 0.05). However, educational level exhibited a strong link with knowledge in the pre-test (p < 0.05). Conclusion: The study indicated that women in the selected rural area of Sasaram, Bihar, had inadequate knowledge on Breast Self-Examination and breast cancer before the educational intervention. The desired instructional strategy was effective in considerably improving their knowledge and awareness. Educational seminars emphasizing on breast health and early detection measures should be performed frequently to promote early diagnosis and minimize the prevalence of breast cancer among women.
