A new leafhopper genus and species from the Magaliesberg, South Africa.

A new genus and species of leafhoppers is described from a small but very old mountain range in the Savanna Biome of South Africa. The Magaliesberg spans Gauteng and Northwest provinces forming a part of the border between the Grassland and Savanna Biomes. The new leafhopper is Mohalea apala new genus and new species, and has only been collected on a shrub in Rubiaceae, Otiophora calycophylla, that grows in cracks in rocks above ground level. It is provisionally included in the Bonaspeiia tribe Selenocephalini, Deltocephalinae, Cicadellidae, Insecta. A list of species of leafhoppers collected in the Magaliesberg is given.
