Results of mosquito inspections on international aircraft at Narita International Airport in Japan (2022–2024)

We report the findings of mosquito inspections conducted on international aircraft by the Narita Airport Quarantine Station between 2022 and 2024. In total, 722 aircraft were inspected, and 78 adult mosquitoes (including 12 dead mosquitoes) were collected from 37 aircraft (5.1%). Most of the mosquitoes on the aircraft belonged to the Culex genus and 57 were blood-fed (77.0%). All test results for flavivirus were negative. Aircraft from Bangladesh had the highest frequency of mosquito collection, with 55 adults collected from 21 of 61 aircraft.
