While the interaction between climate change and Occupational Health and Safety practices manifest through the intensification of traditional workplace hazards, such as occupational heat stress, it also introduces psychosocial risks to the workforce, including climate anxiety and ecological grief. Besides, climate change measures can inadvertently expose workers to novel chemical, physical, and psychological hazards. Through a systems thinking perspective, we can identify and mitigate the unintended consequences of our interventions and ensure that the transition to a low-carbon economy does not come at the cost of worker health. Furthermore, the changing climate functions as a risk multiplier that exacerbates occupational health inequities, disproportionately burdening socially, economically, or politically marginalised populations, including migrant and Indigenous workers. Ultimately, comprehensive policy frameworks and “Just Transition” principles must be continually developed to guarantee procedural, distributive, and intergenerational justice across all global labour sectors.
