Research progress on preparation methods of nanoscale trace elements and their applications in livestock and poultry production

Traditional trace mineral element additives have problems such as low bioavailability, severe environmental residues, and potential toxicity risks. This has driven the exploration of new, efficient, low-toxicity and safe alternative solutions in livestock production. Nanoscale mineral elements, due to their unique surface effects and small size, exhibit higher activity, safety, and metabolic regulation potential than conventional trace elements, and have gradually become a research hotspot in the field of livestock nutrition. Nanoscale trace mineral element additives have the functions of enhancing animal antioxidant capacity, improving bioavailability, regulating immune function, and improving intestinal health. This article describes the preparation methods and biological functions of nanoscale trace mineral element additives, and reviews the research results of nanoscale trace mineral elements zinc, copper, and selenium additives in animal production applications, providing a reference for the further application of nanoscale trace mineral element additives in animal production.
