Matériaux moléculaires pour diodes organiques électroluminescentes : vers de nouvelles perspectives en électronique organique
Le résumé fourni par la source
(Text in French) Molecular materials for organic light-emitting diodes: towards new perspectives in organic electronics. Organic electronics, also known as plastic electronics, is becoming an increasingly important player of modern electronic technologies and is expected to play a central role in future developments. It is based on the use of organic semiconductors (molecular materials) and is mainly structured around three key devices: the organic solar cell, the organic field-effect transistor, and the organic light-emitting diode (OLED). In this highly multidisciplinary field, the synergy between chemistry and physics has been the cornerstone of its development, and this growth has been accompanied by an increasing demand for high-performance organic semiconductors. Chemists synthesize and study the properties of the molecules constituting the OLEDs, while physicists fabricate and characterize these devices and elucidate their fundamental operating principles. In this context, the molecular chemistry carried out at the Institut des Sciences Chimiques de Rennes (ISCR) has contributed, through the development of innovative and efficient organic materials, both to a better understanding of OLEDs behavior and to the improvement of their performance, which is the ultimate goal of organic electronics. Before illustrating the advances achieved by ISCR teams in this field, a brief overview of OLED principles is provided, highlighting the significant role played by molecular materials.
