Le résumé fourni par la source
This study explored the sock properties that enhance comfort for children with tactile hyperreactivity and developed practical guidelines for parents when purchasing socks. An exploratory, descriptive mixed-methods design was used. The study consisted of two sequential phases combining quantitative and qualitative data. In Phase 1, children wore a different sock each day for five consecutive days, while parents completed daily online surveys based on their observations. Findings from this phase informed the development of interview questions for Phase 2, which involved one-on-one semi-structured online interviews with parents. Both phases were cross-sectional and conducted with a single sample at one point in time. The study included thirteen South African children with tactile hyperreactivity (shoe size 9–12) and their parents. Eligibility was confirmed using the Touch Inventory for Elementary School-Aged Children (TIE).
