The author conducts a philosophical, culturological, (2) and religious analysis of the development of spiritual musical art within the semantic framework of Western religious culture, focusing on Catholicism.The historical transformations of the organ as a musical instrument that became a symbol of the musical culture of the Western Church are considered, and the features of its timbre capabilities, which in turn are an important component in the process of suggestive influence on the recipient.The article analyzes the main musical genres in the context of certain historical periods that were illustrated by organ art: prelude and fugue toccata and fugue, passacaglia, choral prelude, and also demarcates them in the context of national organ schools - German, French, Spanish and Italian.It is noted that organ art was present not only in church life, but also occupied a significant place in the secular cultural environment of Western Europe. The study focuses on the development of organ art within the framework of European traditions as an important component of Western Christian culture. It examines the historical stages of the evolution of the organ from the Dark Middle Ages to the period of intellectual achievements of the Modern Age. Its practical significance in liturgical practice and culturological influence on the formation of Western European professional musical language are explained.Special attention is paid to the work of outstanding composers and organists, such as Girolamo Frescobaldi, Dietrich Buxtehude, and Johann Sebastian Bach. The relationship between the acoustic properties of the organ, the architectural features of churches, and the sacred and symbolic aspects of musical works is analyzed. The article emphasizes the spiritual, aesthetic and symbolic value of organ art and its significant contribution to the formation of Western European sacred culture.In our article, the organ is considered as one of the key musical instruments of the 15th-17th centuries in the context of the development of European musical tradition.The structural features of organs, the evolution of their register systems and technical improvements that contributed to the emergence of new performing and compositional approaches are studied.Considerable attention is paid to the role of the organ in church life and its influence on the formation of genres of polyphonic music.The contribution of composers of this period to the development of organ art is separately considered. The conclusions indicate the key determining role of the organ in the musical life of the Baroque era and its influence on the further development of European cultural heritage in general and musical, in particular.The importance and place of organ art in the context of the formation and development of musical and cultural traditions of Europe and the world are emphasized.
