Le résumé fourni par la source

Climate variability and high ambient temperatures in semi-arid regions pose significant challenges to maintaining animal welfare in intensive pig farming systems. Effective monitoring of thermal comfort and behavior is essential for improving productivity and health. This study aimed to evaluate the behavioral responses of growing pigs housed under three microclimatic conditions: no environmental control (control), forced ventilation (FV), and an evaporative adiabatic cooling system (EACS). A total of 27 pigs were observed using a video monitoring system and analyzed through computer vision techniques. Otsu's thresholding method was applied to segment body area patterns at different times of the day, and behavioral distribution was analyzed. Additionally, principal component analysis (PCA) was performed to assess the relationship between environmental variables and animal behavior. The results showed that pigs in the EACS environment exhibited more frequent lying and feeding behaviors, suggesting improved thermal comfort compared to the control and FV treatments. PCA confirmed the discriminatory power of the method in associating environmental conditions with specific behavioral patterns. The findings support the use of computer vision tools combined with thermal mitigation strategies for real-time monitoring and welfare improvement.
