Splenic organoids: translational insights from experimental models to clinical applications - A scoping review protocol

The presented protocol aims to map current evidence on immune organoids, with a particular focus on spleen organoids, as ex vivo models that can better recapitulate the structure and function of secondary lymphoid organs than traditional animal models or conventional cell culture systems.With that in mind, we focus our attention on these research questions:1. What is known about the current knowledge, applications, and evidence gaps surrounding immune organoids?2. What evidence exists on the application of immune organoid models in studying viral replication dynamics in viruses with immune cell tropism?3. Do human spleen organoid models recapitulate the structural organization and immune functions of the native spleen compared with existing ex vivo systems, microfluidic platforms, and traditional animal models, particularly for studying viral replication?
