The Covid-19 pandemic has placed significant pressure on global healthcare systems and negatively impacted patient management processes. In this case report, a case is discussed in which the ongoing effects of the intense workload and disruptions in healthcare services caused by the pandemic paved the way for medical malpractice through a lack of consultation. For a 92-year-old patient undergoing surgery for a strangulated hernia, the failure to promptly seek a general surgery consultation under pandemic conditions was considered a medical deficiency. Delays in consultation services during the pandemic led physicians to conduct decision-making alone, leading to irreversible consequences. This case demonstrates that Covid-19 pandemic should be evaluated not only as an infectious disease but also in terms of the structural burden it imposes on the healthcare system and highlights the importance of maintaining a multidisciplinary approach under all circumstances.
