Fig. 1 in Predation risk for hoary marmots in Washington's North Cascades Mountains
Résumé fourni par la source
Fig. 1. Conceptual diagram of analyses. (1) Conducted behavioral observations of hoary marmots (Marmota caligata) to determine the proportion of time they allocated to vigilance and their FID from an approaching observer. (2) Collected predator presence–absence data with remote camera traps and analyzed with single-season, single-species occupancy models. (3) Collected predator scat samples and identified predator and prey remains via genetic metabarcoding to determine the proportion each predator contributed to observed Hoary Marmot predation. (2 × 3) Calculated predator risk indices as the product of probability of use and proportion of Hoary Marmot predation for each predator species. (4) Assessed the relationship between Hoary Marmot antipredator behavior and predator risk indices using linear mixed modeling. Research conducted during June–October of 2018 and 2019 in North Cascades National Park Service Complex, Washington, United States.
