Exploring Sleep Quality and Satisfaction with Engagement in Social Roles and Daily Activities
Le résumé fourni par la source
Restorative sleep is essential for physical and mental health, and poor-quality sleep can profoundly impact social, cognitive, and physical functioning. Untreated sleep issues may disrupt routine activities, emotional regulation, and social engagement, making it difficult for an individual to fulfill personal roles and responsibilities. Occupational therapists consider their clients’ unique interests, roles, and responsibilities, and work to assist individuals in developing adaptations, strategies, and routines to improve performance and satisfaction. As many patients initially discuss sleep difficulties with a primary care provider, occupational therapists working in primary care can be a valuable part of the interprofessional team to address sleep barriers. A thorough understanding of the impact of poor sleep on an individual’s satisfaction with engagement is key to designing impactful and effective interventions. This study aims to assess the impact of sleep quality on an individual’s engagement and personal satisfaction with performance of daily activities and social roles.
