Recovery in professional soccer: how practitioners choose, justify, and apply recovery practice and the role of science in this.
Le résumé fourni par la source
While there is a growing body of research on recovery methods, less is known about how this evidence is used in professional soccer practice. In the real-world, decisions are made within complex environments influenced by contextual factors such as match schedules, logistics, player needs, and organisational demands. This study will examine how these contextual factors interact with scientific evidence to shape decision-making processes about recovery in professional soccer. This study aims to explore how and why decisions are made about recovery in professional soccer environments. It will focus on how practitioners select, justify, and apply recovery strategies in day-to-day practice, and the role that scientific evidence plays in that process. Semi-structured interviews will be conducted with practitioners working in professional soccer to gain insight into their experiences, decision-making processes, and use, or non-use, of recovery methods. The study is expected to provide a clearer understanding of how decisions about recovery are made in practice, and highlight potential gaps between research and applied professional soccer environments.
