Fig. 6.—Kernel density estimate of daily activity patterns across solar time for forest carnivores and snowshoe hares (Lepus americanus) during the winters of 2014–2015 through 2016–2017 in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, Wyoming. The early winter season represents 1 November to 31 January and late winter season represents 1 February to 30 April. The dark (purple) line represents the corresponding forest carnivore species, and the light (turquoise) line represents snowshoe hares. The area of overlap between the two species is denoted in gray. Symbol ∆ represents the coefficient of overlap—∆ = 0 denotes no temporal overlap, whereas a ∆ = 1 denotes complete overlap. Confidence intervals were calculated at 95% using 1,000 bootstrap samples.
