Advancing Education Through Internationalization in Southeast Asia
Résumé fourni par la source
This chapter analyzed how increased integration and interaction among nations may have influenced postsecondary education in Southeast Asia, and how internationalization of postsecondary education can help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. The study used qualitative methods and document analysis to evaluate both policy and scholarly literature on the impact of globalization on postsecondary education by evaluating the data using a thematic analysis approach in order to identify any patterns and/or similarities between the two levels of analysis (i.e., internationalization at the policy level and domestic/institutional level). The results revealed that postsecondary institutions were developing different forms of global engagement through student mobility (i.e., outbound and inbound), creating international partnerships (e.g., universities partnering with other universities), and developing new curricula for students with no international experience. All three types of internationalization improve the quality of education and develop students with global expertise.
