The PF-A experiment: in-situ progressive failure of faulted Opalinus Clay — insights from underground excavation, laboratory tests, and numerical simulations
Le résumé fourni par la source
The PF/PF-A (Progressive Failure of Structurally Controlled Overbreaks) experiment examines how structurally controlled rock mass damage evolves and spreads in faulted Opalinus Clay shale excavations. The project includes an in-situ experiment, installed at the Main Fault of the Mont Terri rock laboratory (MTRL), (hydro)mechanical laboratory testing of fault rocks, with a focus on natural scaly-clay and tectonic fault planes, as well as discontinuum numerical modelling and simulations. In this paper, key observations are summarised and discussed.
