3091-LB: Experiences and Impact of Obesity among Adolescents and Their Caregivers: U.S. Subgroup Results from a Multinational, Cross-Sectional Survey (UNICORN)

Introduction and Objective: Obesity is a complex, progressive condition affecting ~22% of US adolescents. This study describes the impact of obesity on adolescents and their caregivers (CG). Methods: The UNICORN study used data from the Adelphi Pediatric Obesity I DSP™, a multinational, cross-sectional survey (May-Dec 2025). Physicians completed questionnaires for consecutively consulting adolescents (12-17 yrs) with obesity (AwO; BMI ≥95th percentile for age/gender) enrolled in an obesity management program. AwO and CGs completed voluntary questionnaires capturing their experiences, including patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs). Descriptive analyses were performed. Results: Overall, 115 physicians provided data on 684 AwO; 129 AwO and 89 CG completed the questionnaires. Mean age was 15 yrs; most were female (50.7%), White (53.4%), had Class 1 Obesity (38.0%) and 73.1% had ≥1 parent with obesity. AwO reported the following mean PROM scores: EQ-5D-5L VAS: 67.9; IWQOL-Kids (Physical Comfort: 66.9; Body Esteem: 48.1; Social Life: 69.4; Family Relations: 84.3); PWQ (Physical Symptoms: 61.6; Physical Impact: 65.4; Emotional Impact: 42.4; Social Impact: 61.8); CTFEQ (Uncontrolled Eating: 2.7; Emotional Eating: 2.7; Cognitive Restraint: 2.3). Conclusion: These findings highlight an emotional burden among AwO in the US, including impaired body esteem, emotional impact, and emotional eating. Disclosure T.
