Keep Making That Face and It Will Stay That Way: Cross-Cohort Prediction of Empathy from Task-Relevant Connectivity in Task-Free Data

This dataset contains the analysis-ready data for cross-cohort LASSO prediction of trait empathy from resting-state functional connectivity. Two independent cohorts (Cohort 1: N=59; Cohort 2: N=129) completed resting-state fMRI and the Interpersonal Reactivity Index (IRI). The archive includes: (1) mean ROI time courses extracted from Petersen 266-node and Seitzman 300-node atlases for all 188 participants, from which pairwise functional connectivity features are computed; (2) IRI subscale scores (Empathic Concern, Personal Distress, Fantasizing, Perspective Taking) for all participants; (3) network parcellation indices mapping ROIs to canonical intrinsic connectivity networks plus theory-driven resonance and control networks; (4) sex covariates; (5) subject identifiers and demographics; and (6) NIfTI brain masks for key networks in MNI space. These files are sufficient to fully reproduce all classification analyses reported in the manuscript. Raw fMRI volumes are available upon request (nicco@advancedconsciousness.org).
