Le résumé fourni par la source
Quantum imaging, which are quantum measurement systems that demonstrate resolution superior to what can be achieved with classical imaging, has achieved impressive results in fields such as microscopy and lithography and is now being applied to the field of astronomy. We present results of laboratory experiments advancing spatial mode demultiplexing (SPADE) imaging and quantum interferometer techniques for astronomy. We have shown that SPADE can simultaneously recover accurate separation and relative brightness information of simulated binary star systems well below the diffraction limit. We also demonstrate quantum-optimal imaging using a stabilized 170km-span optical interferometer, pointing the way to astronomical interferometers with resolution orders of magnitude better than any current telescope, with outstanding applications for studying exoplanets, the formation of star systems, and tests of General Relativity near the event horizon of a black hole.
