We investigate the dynamic loading behavior of flexible triple-bridle systems connecting round parachutes to entry vehicles (EVs) during the critical inflation phase of planetary Entry, Descent, and Landing (EDL). Using multibody simulations, we examine two contrasting systems: the Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) main parachute and the Dragonfly mission’s supersonic drogue. Although the parachutes differ significantly in size, mass properties, aerodynamic performance, and vehicle initial conditions, both systems exhibit instances where transient loads on the elastic bridle legs exceed the peak aerodynamic force generated by the canopy. Four dominant dynamic modes are identified: the familiar low‑frequency EV ``wrist mode'', a parachute rigid‑body rotation mode driven by bridle elasticity, a bridle‑tensioning mode producing sharp force spikes when slack legs rapidly load, and a longitudinal mode occurring early in inflation. The Dragonfly drogue is found to be more susceptible than the MSL main parachute to dynamic overloading due to its lower aerodynamic force, shorter inflation time, higher initial EV attitude dynamics, and increased occurrence of bridle slacking near full inflation.
