A reduction in liquid-helium supply to an NBI cryopump was simulated on an NBI test platform by adjusting the opening of a liquid-helium control valve, and the response of the vacuum system was investigated. During the experiment, the system remained stable at a valve opening of 57%; when the opening was reduced to 54%, the vacuum signals deteriorated continuously and the system eventually lost vacuum. The results indicate that, under the present experimental conditions, the vacuum stability of the NBI cryopump is highly sensitive to variations in liquid-helium supply, and that the stable operating boundary lies between valve openings of 57% and 54%. Preliminary analysis suggests that the reduction in liquid-helium supply weakens the effective pumping capability of the cryopump, disturbs the original vacuum balance of the system, and thereby accelerates vacuum deterioration. The present results provide an experimental basis for subsequent fault analysis and the development of operating protection strategies.
