Senegal, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea, Burkina Faso, Liberia, Sierra, Leone, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togo, Benin, Nigeria, Cameroon, Gabon, Angola, Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Comoro Islands, Madagascar. Remarks. This species inhabits savannas, forest clearings, anthropogenic environments, and occurring in Tanzania at altitudes from 0 to 2,100 m. It is a common species with a slow flight, flying close to the ground and settling on low vegetation. It is strongly attracted to flowers, and communal resting behavior is regularly observed. Additionally, this species exhibits significant individual variation and is one of the species that forms a Müllerian mimicry relationship, including with Danaus chrysippus (Kielland, 1990; Larsen, 1991; 2005; Williams, 2022).
