Normally, the arterial branches supplying the free edge of the cerebellar tentorium are rarely visualized on cerebral angiography. However, they may serve as important feeding arteries in hypervascular tumors or dural arteriovenous fistulas. Therefore, a precise understanding of the anatomy of these vessels is essential when planning treatment strategies. In this review, we summarize the anatomical characteristics of the arteries supplying the free edge of the tentorium, review their historical descriptions, and discuss their clinical implications.
