QUALITATIVE IMPACTS OF WEB-BASED APPLICATIONS ON STUDENTS’ SESSIONAL RESULTS COMPILATION AND COMPUTATION IN TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS
Résumé fourni par la source
Several institutions have been established by either private individuals or the government in order to improve the rate of literacy in our society. In all these institutions, determining students’ performance after examinations must take the highest priority if the purpose of establishing such institution is not defeated. Meanwhile, knowing their academic progress will enable the school administration to be acquainted with their level of commitment to giving these students all that they need to obtain their desired certificates at the end of their programme. Also, students would even have the eagerness to know their rate of performance after writing any examination. This paper therefore focused on having hitch-free and sustainable sessional results compilation and computation due to the qualitative impacts of adopting blended web-based apps in modelling results. To solve some problems of traditional result processing methods such as manual systems, offline desktop applications, paper-based systems, and offline databases such as time consumption, human error, limited accessibility, data redundancy, and lack of real-time collaboration justify the adoption of Blended Web-Based Applications, which offer centralized, real-time access, improved security, scalability, and efficiency, some of these benefits include prompt release of results without delay, ease of updating, result accessibility by students anytime and anywhere, and the opportunity of results online without manipulating or altering them. This will eventually serve as another means of generating internal revenue for such institutions by the management and the users can access the app through various platforms such as a desktop, laptop or mobile.
