The present deliverable D4.1 briefly provides an overview of methodologies for the characterization of existing and adapted solutions and the comparison between failure mechanisms typical of rubble-mound breakwaters, vertical breakwaters, seawalls and beach nourishments. Moreover, a collection of experimental and numerical datasets for these kinds of coastal and harbor defense structures is presented, which derive from both existing and new experimental and numerical campaigns. These data were fundamental for the development of the activities described in deliverable D2.1.
