Sustainable Crop Irrigation: AI and Automation for Smart Water Use
Le résumé fourni par la source
Water scarcity and inefficient irrigation practices have emerged as significant constraints in agriculture, particularly in arid and semi-arid regions, where agriculture accounts for over 70% of total freshwater consumption. Traditional irrigation methods often result in significant water losses due to over-irrigation, leaching, and evaporation, thereby threatening sustainability and food security. As climate variability and global demand for water increase, it becomes imperative to adopt advanced technologies that promote smart water use. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and automation have shown immense potential to transform irrigation practices by enabling precision, efficiency, and adaptability in water management systems ( Khosravi et al., 2020 ).
