AI and IoT in Precision Water Management for Crops
Le résumé fourni par la source
Agriculture, as the backbone of many economies, is increasingly challenged by the twin pressures of climate variability and water scarcity. With nearly 70% of global freshwater withdrawals attributed to irrigation, optimizing water usage in agriculture has become imperative ( FAO, 2017 ). Traditional irrigation systems, which often rely on fixed schedules and generalized estimations, are insufficient to cope with the complexities of modern agronomic conditions, especially under erratic climatic scenarios. In this context, the convergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) offers a transformative approach to precision water management in crop production. These technologies enable dynamic, site-specific, and data-driven irrigation decisions, enhancing water use efficiency, crop productivity, and environmental sustainability.
