The article focuses on the imagination of Charles Tilly involving a unique social rank of individuals in the society. The social rank is associated with social sites which is defined in terms of income or wealth, power, fame, prestige and total well-being. Every individual occupies unequal positions and locations in the society. Tilly points out the dynamics of inequality which refers the extent to which individuals stay in the same inferior locations throughout careers, lifetimes and generations. A surface of human well-being is represented on the geographical inequalities which is similar to the Earth's physical topography.
