The year 2025 marks the completion of a second three-year research cycle devoted to the study of the Saône–Doubs confluence. Seven years of research have made it possible to document, with unprecedented precision, two of the principal clustered settlement sites of the Iron Age in Bourgogne–Franche-Comté, located at the confluence of the Saône and the Doubs.Regarding to the considerable volume of data collected and the complexity of the results obtained, this report represents a transitional stage toward a final synthesis. It presents the major advances achieved during the second three-year cycle (2022–2025) and outlines the perspectives for a third and final cycle (2026–2028), essentially devoted to data analysis, dissemination, and the preparation of a comprehensive monograph. This new cycle will prioritize specialized studies, chrono-stratigraphic syntheses, and the creation of scientific archives, while reducing fieldwork to a minimum. The objective is to conclude the project in 2028 with the submission of a synthesis report and progress toward a publication offering a renewed understanding of the territorial organization of the Saône–Doubs confluence settlement hub, from the Iron Age through Antiquity.
