MicroCT data: Characterization of cell types, positional codes, and enhancers contributing to human facial individuality and pathology

This dataset contains tomographic data and 3D reconstructions focusing on the morphological development of the human embryonic chondrocranium and craniofacial musculature, as well as comparative data from Neurogenin mouse models. The dataset accompanies the study “Characterization of cell types, positional codes, and enhancers contributing to human facial individuality and pathology” by Erickson A. et al., which presents a multi-modal single-cell atlas of human facial development. The dataset includes high-resolution computed tomography (CT) scans of three human embryos representing Carnegie stages corresponding to 8, 9, and 12 weeks of development. Each human specimen is provided in DICOM format and accompanied by 3D surface models (STL) of the chondrocranium and craniofacial muscles, generated through segmentation of the tomographic volumes. In addition, the dataset includes 16 CT scans of Neurogenin mutant and control mouse embryos to support comparative developmental analyses of craniofacial morphogenesis across species. All data were acquired using X-ray microCT and reconstructed to ensure high anatomical fidelity suitable for quantitative morphological and developmental research.
