Gallbladder Cancer: Epidemiological, Clinical, Therapeutic and Prognostic Aspects - A Case Series

Gallbladder cancer is a rare malignancy with a poor prognosis, often diagnosed at an advanced stage. This retrospective study included 49 cases managed at Ibn Rochd University Hospital in Casablanca between 2012 and 2020, with a female predominance and a mean age of 61 years. The most common clinical features were right upper quadrant pain, weight loss, and vomiting. Diagnosis was based on imaging and histopathological examination, sometimes incidentally after cholecystectomy. Curative surgery was possible in only a minority of patients, while most received palliative treatment. The median survival was 8 months. Gallbladder cancer remains a highly aggressive disease, highlighting the need for early diagnosis and multidisciplinary management.
