The Global Urban Demographic Dataset (GUDD), version 1, provides globally consistent city-level estimates of urban demographic structure and population change for the period 2000–2020. The dataset was developed by intersecting annual WorldPop gridded age-sex population estimates with urban centre boundaries from the Global Human Settlement Layer Urban Centre Database (GHS-UCDB). The dataset includes outputs generated using both static urban boundaries, fixed to a common spatial definition, and dynamic urban boundaries that vary through time. These data support comparative analyses of urban demographic change across more than 10,000 cities worldwide and enable evaluation of age structure, sex structure, total population change, natural increase, and estimated net migration in a harmonized global framework. The dataset is intended to support research on urbanization, migration, demographic transition, climate vulnerability, and urban planning.
